‘Shockwave’ therapy is a non-invasive skin tightening device that utilizes targeted high-energy acoustic waves to the dermal tissue, causing stimulation of collagen and elastin fiber production for up to six months following treatment. Acoustic sound waves cause microcellular injury to the skin tissue leading to contraction of the skin over time, with results noticeable around 3 months. Shockwave therapy is relatively painless without anesthesia, no downtime, and each session is about 15 minutes per area. Treatment sessions are recommended once weekly for 4 weeks and are repeated as maintenance once or twice yearly.
